Visitor Visa
Visitor Visa or Tourist Visa is applicable for people who want to explore the country as a traveling enthusiast. Canada has pristine natural beauty that you would love to explore. Also, it swanky cityscapes are amazingly impressive. If you have a plan to visit Canada for a holiday vacation, you need to apply for a Visitor Visa. It has a technical term – Temporary Resident Visa (TRV). The visa allows you to visit any location in Canada without any restriction, provide you follow the Canadian Law. You get a limited time to explore the country and visit various places. The validity of the Visitor Visa is 6 months. It is possible to extend its duration.
Requirement for Applicants
- Passport must be valid for the individual.
- Citizenship / National IDs
- The reason for your journey.
- If applicable, a letter of invitation from a Canadian citizen.
- Itinerary such as airline tickets, hotel reservations, length of stay, and return tickets.
- There are no prior criminal or immigration fraud convictions on your record.

- Proof of funds to cover your stay, travel, and other expenses.
The Offline Procedure of the Application Procedure
You need to abide by all rules and regulations of applying offline to the concerned authorities to obtain the Visitor Visa. Ensure you fill the forms with mandatory details. You should provide information transparently. Also, the form should be accompanies with necessary documents. Revise the visa package before you submit it. Pay the required application fees before you submit the application file to the Canadian authorities.
Total duration of the process
The total duration of processing your Tourist Visa depends on how efficiently you have submitted the application package to the Canadian authorities. Generally, the immigration officials take a few weeks to assess the various sections of your application and do a scrutiny of facts. If everything is fine with the application file, there are no problems in obtaining the Tourist Visa.
On the other hand, if the application package is incomplete due to lack of any mandatory information or document, your package is returned. You have to complete it and send again. It is important to note that there is no reimbursement of application fees. You have to pay the charges again. There are some countries that have good diplomatic relations with Canada, and the citizens don’t require any Tourist Visa to temporarily visit Canada.
The duration for which you can stay
The maximum duration for a Tourist Visa is 6 months, as mentioned earlier. In some cases, the authorities may permit you to stay for a shorter period due to confidential administrative reasons. The authorities at the Entry Point stamp your passport with clear dates that tell you about the duration. You need to mandatorily follow the range of dates marking your stay in Canada. Staying in the country beyond your date of departure is illegal.
If you don’t get any specific stamp at the Entry Point, you can stay in Canada for a maximum period of 6 months as a tourist. Also, keep in mind that there are provisions to extend the duration, rather renew the duration of your Tourist Visa.
