Manitoba is called The Keystone Province. The province has mesmerizing natural resources. It offers plenty of job opportunities in various sectors. Also, there is scope to establish and expand various businesses. If you are a qualified with work experience, recent graduate, or an entrepreneur, you can apply to The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) and participate in the immigration scheme of the government. The MPNP allows you to settle in Manitoba as a skilled professional.

Skill Immigration Program

You are considered under the category when you have a link with the province through your job, training, or education.

Foreign Skilled Workers

There are specific factors to be considered under the scheme, such as:

  • Family or friends who are willing to help.
  • Previous employment or educational experience in the province
  • MPNP sent an invitation as part of a strategic recruitment campaign.

Procedure for Submitting an Application

  • Send in a letter of interest.
  • Applicants having a Manitoba connection are encouraged to apply for the MPNP.
  • After a comprehensive evaluation of the applicant, the MPNP recommends that he or she submit a separate application for permanent residence (PR) visas for themselves and their families.

Stream of Business Investors

The Entrepreneurial Route
If you are a qualified investor or an experienced entrepreneur, you can apply under the program. You would be granted a temporary work visa by the authorities for first 24 months of your stay in Manitoba, and it would be upgraded when you show good results through your business ventures.

Requirement for Applicants

  • Minimum of 3 years full-time job experience as an active business owner or in senior management in the last 5 years. Applicants must own at least 33% of the company they are applying for.
  • A CLB/NCLC language proficiency score of at least 5 is required.
  • The minimum educational requirement in Canada is a high school diploma or its equivalent. Extra points are given to candidates between the ages of 25 and 49.
  • Enterprises headquartered in Manitoba must invest a minimum of $250,000, while businesses situated outside the Manitoba Capital Region must invest a minimum of $150,000.
  • In order to create a business in Manitoba, it must have at least one work position earmarked for Canadian citizens or permanent residents (must not be owners of the business or any close relative).

If adaptable, you will be given points

  • The applicant’s spouse has a CLB/NCLC 5 or better score.
  • The candidate and his/her spouse should have a minimum band score CLB/NCLC 5 or above in second official language.
  • For more over a year, a close relative has been residing in Manitoba.
  • Before the process of filing an EOI, your children must have finished at least 6-moths of unhindered study at a registered educational institute in Manitoba
  • Either you or your spouse / common-law partner must have successfully completed 1-year study in a recognized educational institute in Manitoba
  • An alternative is getting a work experience certificate from an employer in Manitoba showing you and/or your spouse has an experience of at least 6 months
  • A minimum net worth of $500,000 is required.

Pathway for Farm Investors

Applicants who want to start and run a farm in Manitoba should apply to the farm investor stream.

Requirement for Applicants

  • Farm business experience of at least three years as a farm owner is required.
  • A farm business strategy that is both practical and profitable for primary agriculture production.
  • The ability to communicate in one of Canada’s two official languages.
  • A $300,000 minimum investment is required.
  • In Manitoba, I went on a farm business study trip.
  • To participate in the administration of the agricultural company, you must stay in Manitoba.
  • A minimum financial status of $500,000 is required.

Applicants who are ineligible for the MPNP

  • Caregivers who live in Canada and provide live-in care.
  • Temporary foreign workers residing or doing job in a province other than Manitoba
  • Spouse of a citizen or permanent resident of Canada.
  • Applicants whose applications were turned down by the MPNP authorities in the previous 6 months.
  • Applicants who have completed their application for immigration through other PNPs.
